As she is introduced to Athia, Frey finds herself the reluctant protector of Cipal, the final bastion of humanity in Athia, and due to Cuff’s urging, she takes on the task of finding the former rulers of the world-the Tantas-in order to kill them and stop the Break for good.Īs Frey journeys through Athia to seek out the four corrupt Tantas, she slowly learns about her own mysterious past and about the people of Cipal despite her insistence that she does not care about anybody but herself and only wishes to return to New York. You see, this fantastical world is plagued by a mysterious blight called the Break, a magical fog that changes living beings into zombie-like monsters, and only Frey can enter the Break without being corrupted by it seemingly because of her ability to wield magic thanks to Cuff. Cuff, played by Jonathan Cake, is a magical bracelet that has attached itself to Frey against her will, but he offers to lend Frey use of her power in order to protect herself from the strange, corrupted monsters in Athia. Down on her luck with nobody to turn to, Frey finds herself thrust into the world of Athia thanks to a mysterious portal and her new, unwanted companion, Cuff…or Vambrace, as he would prefer. The game opens on a court trial where Frey is given one last chance to straighten out her life as an early Christmas gift by a sympathetic judge, but due to her involvement with a local street gang, she finds herself desperately seeking to flee the city and start a new life with her beloved cat.īefore she is able to leave New York, her apartment building gets burned down by the gang alongside the money Frey had saved to be able to flee the city. She is a street-toughened orphan living in New York with nothing to her name except a few designer sneakers, an old copy of Alice in Wonderland, and a Balinese cat named Homer. When I finally got my hands on Forspoken, I genuinely expected the worst, but was pleasantly surprised to find myself wholly enjoying the game despite the many issues present in the game.įorspoken plays out from the perspective of Frey Holland, played by actress Ella Balinska of Charlie ’ s Angels (2019) and Resident Evil (2022) fame. Despite the high expectations for this game, the marketing for Forspoken was fraught with numerous missteps that put off many potential players ahead of its release.ĭespite the game being developed by Square Enix’s Luminous Productions, the Japanese studio best known for developing the highly successful Final Fantasy XV, there was more focus on the Hollywood talent attached to the game which felt like a desperate attempt to assign some sort of unearned prestige.Įven though Forspoken was making strides within the video game industry by featuring a female person of color as the lead protagonist of their new IP, Square Enix would lean into tired, overused stereotypes by calling Frey’s walk “hip-hoppy”.įootage of the game looked repetitive at times and barely featured any story content, and the demo released actively turned off a lot of players because of the poorly explained controls and bland map. Originally revealed as Project Athia during the PlayStation 5 Showcase in June 2020, Forspoken was touted by Square Enix as a new blockbuster IP featuring A-list Hollywood writing and casting combined with the latest, greatest technologies in the industry.

To make the sigil you'll need paper, something to write with, a matchbook, and a fire safe container.īegin by defining your desire in one sentence. In the video below I show you how to make a really simple destructible sigil. Sigils like these could be made into pottery as an art piece or you could write a sigil on a piece of paper to be placed behind a painting or under a piece of furniture. Occasionally permanent sigils are recharged to keep the energy active. Permanent sigils are made to last and are meant to be active for a long period of time. These types of sigils could be drawn on your skin with a marker or carved into a candle which will eventually be melted. Temporary sigils are sigils that will eventually disappear with time. This is usually done by writing your sigil on a piece of paper and then setting it on fire though you could also carve the sigil onto food and then consume it. The act of destroying is what creates the burst of energy giving the sigil its power. How you create and charge the sigil may change based on which type you'd like to create.ĭestructible sigils are activated by being destroyed. Sigils can be destructible, temporary, or permanent. In the second part, the sigil is given energy or “charged” and it becomes more than a simple drawing. In the first part, the sigil is drawn and created as a physical object. The sigil making process is composed of two phases: construction and charging. By using images and symbolism, it’s easier to move beyond our conscious mind and tap into something deeper and intuitive. But then we are using our conscious mind to read the words and not really tapping into our subconscious. You could just have a simple note card that lists the meanings of each card. So the reason we transform the intention statement into a symbol is so our subconscious reads it as opposed to our conscious mind. Using any of the gnostic techniques he reifies the sigil and then, by force of will, hurls it into his subconscious from where the sigil can begin to work unencumbered by desire.” He stated “The magician acknowledges a desire, he lists the appropriate symbols and arranges them into an easily visualized glyph. So why do we go through the trouble of creating a sigil and not just write your intention as a sentence on a piece of paper? Well we can get some guidance from Ray Sherwin, one of the founders of Chaos magic. Like many varieties of spellwork the intention setting is crucial and crafting a sigil begins by coming up with a sentence or phrase which best encapsulates what we’d like to achieve. Instead we are using a personal intention or goal to formulate and charge a custom symbol. A chaos magic sigil is different from these historic sigils because we’re not calling upon any particular spirit. Most contemporary sigil crafting is a bit different so today I'll be showing you how to make a chaos magic sigil. These sigils were believed to be a representation of the true name of the spirit and thus granted the magical practitioner some control over the being. For example, The Lesser Key of Solomon, contains the sigils for the princes in the hierarchy of hell. Historically the term sigil referred to a type of pictorial signature of an angel, daemon, or spirit. The term sigil derives from the Latin sigillum, meaning "seal" and it is the root of many other English words such as “signature,” “sign,” and “signal.” A sigil is a symbol with a mystical or magical meaning. Rolling my own dialogue engine was a double edged sword. The increased art budget really helped towards the end of Bell Master and could have been bigger if started earlier. My refusal to open a Patreon earlier was misguided. This is a limitation I must take account of while designing the next game. My current art budget still only allows for a small amount of art each month. With the commission audition system proving itself in terms of cost, time and benefit. On the good side I did get finding new artists down to a science. Two artists flamed out during the project leaving me to find new ones mid version, the lesson being never to rely on just one artist for a project. I still prefer it to using 3D art software so it'll have to do until I get a permanent artist on anything resembling a viable wage. Setting up scenes, finding visual references and communicating what I want drawn is a time consuming process. Working with artists on commission is hard. The two month release cycle also worked well, with no version feeling rushed or low on content. All tasks were created, tracked and executed in a consistent manner. The Excel based task management system I developed during working on this game works really well. Project management and working with artists Pacing issues came up a lot in player feedback, more build up before narrative payoffs would have helped. I need to pay more attention to the tags and game descriptions in the future as they are often a players first interaction with the game. The "marketing" material for the game created a false assumption for some players, expecting the game to be a more generic mind control power fantasy. And the Old Man character was both fun to write and fun to read.įinding the wife's "voice" was difficult, and writing dialogues in general is still a struggle, with snarky monologues and scene descriptions coming much more naturally. The story was well received (even if the ending was somewhat divisive). Generally speaking my writing style was validated. On the good side, my decision to add a cheating menu on day one was a massive win, both in helping make development quicker, and in providing quick solutions to players before bugfixes were rolled out. It took a lot of time and effort and did not pay off in any meaningful way. My decision to support mods on day one was extremely optimistic. This also rendered a lot of the engine work done prior useless as the features that required it were cut. This led me to create a game scope that was unrealistic for my available time, which meant I had to take 4 months to rework a lot of the design to reduce the games scope drastically. I also dove head first into making the engine and prototype before fully completing the pre production phase. I didn't spend enough time learning the community before throwing my hat in the ring, and it showed. My programmer art was not passable and even using real porn would have been a better call. I put up a rough and ugly prototype, looking for artists, in the wrong forum, destroying the games initial exposure. Also, I apologize in advance for any corporate speak, it's an occupational hazard. Since the goal is to learn and improve, it's acceptable. This document is going to be painfully honest, which means a lot of negativity. The goal of this document isn't to list things that could be improved in terms of design or specific features in Bell Master, but rather to focus on processes and decisions that can be adopted or improved going forward into the next game. A game postmortem is all about figuring out what worked and what didn't during the development of the game. I’m afraid, we have not been able to find a way to reproduce this in the few years that this started to happen. Unlike clip studio paint, photoshop, or flash, it uses the same programming framework as us, so this would help to narrow down if it’s a problem with Pencil2D or this framework we Hi. Finally, if you can, please try downloading Krita which linked above and seeing if it has the same problem. I would recommend using either the builtin Quicktime Player or the free and open source licecap to capture the screen. Second, if you could record a video of the behavior happening that would be really helpful to visualize how the extra lines are being drawn. If you are already using that version, then you can try and use the 10.12+, it might still work for you. On the Pencil2D downloads page, under the Mac panel, make sure you’ve downloaded the 10.7-10.11 version rather than to 10.12 version. First off, make sure you are using the new legacy mac build. I checked for driver updates and installed the update hoping it’d solve the problem, but it still persists. (Another point of note is I had the previous driver version after I downloaded and installed Pencil2D when I discovered the issue. My Wacom tablet product number is PTH-651 My mac operating system is OS X El Capitan (10.11) You can try the following free drawing apps to see how the tablet behaves: If you updated the drivers to the latest web version for your tablet, you’re certainly a step ahead, however I have to ask that you try to use other drawing software to report if it’s a global issue with the tablet or if it’s specific to Pencil2D under macOS environments? And what is the driver version you downloaded? e.g 6.3.19-3.If possible can you let us know what is the wacom tablet product number (e.g PTH-450) which you can find on the back of the tablet itself or in the box.You mentioned you’re using a mac but which version? To find out follow this guide. Which version of Pencil2D are you currently using? To find out go to HELP > ABOUT menu.It is quite odd indeed that this is happening since wacom tablets are about the most compatible input devices with Pencil2D, but there’s always a first time I suppose.Īnyway, can you please answer a few more questions to help developers review this faster? But in this case, the IRS is looking like a champ.” “It’s sad when the IRS is more helpful than TurboTax,” George said. He had to submit an amended return on his own. The IRS notified Christopher of the error, but TurboTax could do nothing to fix it. The error not only delayed a refund worth several thousand dollars, it also kept Christopher from qualifying for a stimulus check. Use one that’s on your side-Ramsey SmartTax.īut during George’s investigation into TurboTax, he talked to an unsatisfied customer named Christopher whose tax refund was held up for several months because TurboTax did not prompt him to submit a 1095-A (a form related to the Affordable Care Act). “You can’t borrow your way out of debt,” Dave said.ĭon’t settle for tax software with hidden fees or agendas. But being debt-free is the only way to be truly free. Intuit’s stated vision is: “Financial freedom for all consumers.” And some people believe lowering your interest rate on your credit card or consolidating loans is the way to financial freedom. “They’re trying to get you near, so they can say, ‘Boom! Gotcha. “They’re using their tax software or this free credit score as the bait. Intuit’s documentation actually refers to receiving bounties on people who sign up for loans and credit cards! And in case you didn’t know, a bounty is defined as money paid for capturing or killing a person or an animal. TurboTax and Credit Karma make lots of cash by using your financial data. they know how to write the script to get you to sign up for credit cards,” Dave said. “Credit Karma has all your data, and based on that data. 2 Why would Intuit spend billions of dollars to buy a company that provides free credit score tracking? Intuit bought Credit Karma for $8.1 billion in 2020. “Banks and their partners make bazillions of dollars off of credit cards, off of debt, off of you,” Dave said. George talks with Dave Ramsey, who says TurboTax is a good company that lost its way when it began using the data it gleans from its tax software customers to generate leads and peddle debt products. TurboTax actually received a bounty for getting Tracy, and thousands of other TurboTax users like her, to sign up for a credit card! Then, once TurboTax had a history of her financial data, they used what they knew about her to start offering her a credit card. Tracy used the free version of TurboTax’s federal tax filing services for three years. The Investor Day presentation shared an example of an ideal TurboTax customer-a retail employee named Tracy. “TurboTax and its parent company Intuit have a new long-term game plan to get you and keep you in a cycle of debt long after you’ve filed your taxes,” George explained. George digs into Intuit’s 2020 Investor Day presentation-a 13-page document that details Intuit’s plans to “help” its customers who are having trouble making ends meet. So how does a billion-dollar company make money by offering free or low-cost tax software? The answer lies in the data they collect on their users. Its daughter companies include QuickBooks (accounting software), Mint (personal financial management), and Credit Karma (credit monitoring). TurboTax has a 70% market share among folks who choose to self-file their income taxes, and it’s owned by a $100 billion company called Intuit. Hey George, tell us how you really feel about TurboTax! In the first episode of The Fine Print podcast, titled “How TurboTax Is Screwing You,” host and Ramsey Personality George Kamel investigates tax-software behemoth TurboTax. For energy conservation to be successful, people need to reduce their participation in activities that use up energy, such as driving less, turning off lights, and using appliances less often. LED lights are an excellent investment for any company’s bottom line because of the substantial reduction in energy consumption they cause when replacing incandescent or fluorescent bulbs.īuy on Amazon Features of Philips LED Dusk-to-Dawn Light Bulb Energy EfficientĪlthough they are not the same thing, energy efficiency and energy conservation both work toward the same end objective: decreasing the amount of energy used. Reduced expenses may be directly attributed to these efficiencies in energy use. Depending on the kind of lights you’re replacing and the LED lights you’re utilizing, the improvement might be as big as 90% in certain circumstances. If all the lights in a building were converted to LEDs, the energy consumption might be reduced by as much as 60–70 percent. LED lighting is more efficient than traditional lighting methods, resulting in less wasted light and more usable lumens. The fact that LED lights use so little power is a major benefit. That’s forty times as long as a standard light bulb lasts. In other words, an LED bulb may live anywhere from six to twelve years depending on how you use it. The manufacturer claims a lifespan of up to 100,000 hours, however, this varies greatly with use. Incandescent bulbs have an estimated lifespan of 1,000 hours while average LED bulbs may shine for up to 50,000 hours. The lifetime of an LED light is far longer than that of a standard incandescent bulb. A few of the many benefits of LED bulbs are as follows: Industries and commercial establishments concerned with cutting down on their energy consumption and associated expenses might profit greatly from switching to LED lighting. These bulbs may not work with a dimmer switch. In this article, Philips LED Dusk-to-Dawn light bulb will be examined. You don’t need to acquire any new lamps or anything else to utilize these light bulbs you may use them with the lights you already have. This refers to locations with built-in sockets and lights, such as the outside of a home or building and the inside of a house with built-in lighting. They are suitable for use in any environment where standard light bulbs can be screwed. You won’t have to worry about constantly forgetting to switch the lights on or off. This is a very convenient kind of lighting. They are “dusk-to-dawn” lights, which means that they turn on when it is beginning to get dark outside and turn off when it is beginning to become light outside. Because of their high level of energy efficiency, the amount of money spent on electricity will be reduced significantly with these bulbs. The thing is, it scans the folders for missing art, but if it finds something in the folder OR mp3 it considers it good. I've been using AlbumArtDownloaderXUI the past day or so which is a fantastic way to get art. Every album should have a folder.jpg at a minimum, and that artwork should be embedded in the mp3tag of each song in the folder. My OCD is making me get all the artwork cleaned up. Back to a little summer cleanup of the music collection. |
